Zoefish

We all had so much fun with Zoe this week! The first day she would not get in the "big girl" pool. She played very happily in the kiddie pool with a few little kids from the neighborhood. Even Alex and Casey could not coax her in to play with them. The second day started out the same, but just as we were about to leave, she told me that she could probably go in with the big float if I pulled her around. She had a great time and couldn't wait to get in again, so we arranged for swimming lessons with Nikki for Wednesday and Thursday. She learned to blow bubbles and kick, and Nikki even took her out to the deep end! Too bad that that was all we had time for this trip. Next time, though, I bet she will get her whole head under!!

Wednesday night dinner at Fritti and a trip to the bookstore with Dad. Casey declared it the best pizza she ever had, and everyone found a couple of books to read. Thanks, Dad!

school's out

Friday...the last day of school, and the last day of elementary school for Alex. The fifth grade class at Ford always marks this milestone with a Walk of Honor. All of the fifth grade classes walk down the halls one last time, handing out flowers to their old teachers, listening to the lower grades cheering them on to Middle School. Alex had a ball! And then onto the bus for one last ride home. Back at home on the front steps, the same picture I took on the first day of school, back in August...

But our summer vacation awaits! First off, down to Albany to spend the weekend at mom's and collect Zoe. She's coming to spend the week with us! The girls all had fun, riding the golf cart with Papa, and playing with all the dogs. Alex has a new haircut for summer, so much cooler!

Now we have to get back home.

Moving Across Town

This summer we are packing it all up again and moving to Roswell, Ga, on the other side of Atlanta. While it's only about 45 minutes from our current house, it's much closer to Dave's new office. We closed on the house on Friday, and are planning to move in just a couple of weeks. Anyone have a truck?

Casey's a Great Reader, too!

Casey loves to read almost as much as Alex, and tonight she and many other second graders were invited to celebrate reaching the 50 mark in Accelerated Reading. Their teachers treated them to an evening at JumpIts, an indoor play area with all sorts of jumpable, climbable, slidable inflatables!

Here she is having fun and cutting up with Mr. Mathis

Who Let the Cat Out!

Jazzy had quite an adventure tonight! She climbed out a window and onto the roof. She was perfectly happy to be up there, but couldn't figure out how to get down! We called her and offered treats, but she just meowed at us and would not attempt the descent. Our neighbor brought over a ladder, but just as he was about to go up, she decided to slide down the roof. I caught her as she came by the window, and all is well at our house tonight.

fifth grade picnic

Alex had a great time at the fifth grade picnic today. There was so much food, but I think she only ate the cookies! I tried not to look!
Here she is with her teachers, with her friend Kristen and about to go on the obstacle course...

Alex: Interview with the Great White Shark

Alex has just completed a unit of study on sharks, and for her final project she chose the interview with a shark. She did all of the research on the Great White Shark, wrote up her interview questions and answers, then became the shark! She (with a little help) made a terrific costume out of towels and cardboard, and was a big hit. Everyone thought she looked great!
