Caterpillars1

August 22--
Mom has discovered swallowtail caterpillars eating the fennel in the garden. She is going to keep us updated on their progress, and hopefully we will see them become butterflies! She went today and got more fennel and a caterpillar habitat to try to keep them eating happily in her garden and not be eaten by other happy inhabitants in the wild world.

Not long after they made their chrysalis. Some made them on sticks and were brown. Others made theirs on the fennel and were green.

And now they have become butterflies!

first day...

They survived the first day of school! Once they had arrived back home again I managed to drag a few details out of them. Looks like they are off to a good start, wish them luck on the rest of the year!

Alex turns 10

I can't believe my baby is 10 years old! She has been so excited to get to "double digits" and here she is...

We met Dave and my dad for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. She and Casey split a pizza, and for dessert she had the chocolatest cake I've ever seen. She could not even finish it!!

She got some of her favorite things for her birthday--books! She also got a craft kit to make her own mummies--eek!

On Wednesday we invited some of her friends to come to a Birthday Splash. We met up at the pool and ordered pizza. She had a great time. Thanks everyone!
